Just for Weirdos

Like many of you out there, I too have been touched by the weird. In my darkest days after losing Wynn, I have a vague recollection of watching Stranger Things on a loop and reading endlessly about witches, dragons, and magic. My brother, dad, and I would watch documentaries about UFOs and alien encounters late into the night. This would keep my PTSD panic attacks at bay… for a moment or two.

Other times, I’d be riding the waves of a panic attack and have steady presences nearby. One time, our cousin Anthony was there, and he said, “Did you know that sharks are older than trees?”

And it broke the spell. I would stop squeezing my hands so hard that my palms would bleed, and I would look up and laugh. Actually laugh.

So, you could say this collection is less about Wynn and more about me. About enduring the battle of losing her and choosing to remain on this earth. Just me, and all my weird friends.
