Wynn’s Wild Friends

By now, you might have realized how important animals were to Wynn. As a baby, before she could even sit up unassisted, she was able to point to every single caterpillar on each page of The Very Hungry Caterpillar board book. Her first word besides mama and dada was “dog,” and her first real sound besides the usual cooing and giggling was a precious, “rawr!”

When we went to the park, it wasn't for the swings; it was to find the cat that frequented it. Every morning after breakfast, she would yell, “Animals on!” and throw the remote at me. She was so demanding, so wonderfully bossy. While other kids were watching Miss Rachel, she was asking for what were basically zoology lessons for toddlers. You could hold up a flashcard with an armadillo on it, and she would tell you exactly what it was. And if there was a dog at a restaurant, I knew there was absolutely no way she was sitting in her highchair.

She was a force to be reckoned with. Just as wild as the animals she loved. I know she’s up in heaven right now, riding horses and petting tigers, and I cannot wait to see it.
